ISS GETS GREEN LIGHT FOR NEDSS

Schaumburg, IL - The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced that Integrated Software Specialists (ISS) has been awarded the contract for Phase II of the development of the Illinois National Electronic Disease Surveillance System ("I-NEDDS). Under Center for Disease Control guidelines, each state is required to implement a NEDSS system to swiftly detect and communicate the outbreak of certain communicable diseases including Anthrax, Botulism, Smallpox, Salmonella and several other health threats. Phase I of I-NEDSS developed by ISS addressed food based communicable diseases. Phase II will concentrate on the remaining threats which include bioterrorism borne diseases. I-NEDSS was built on an the conceptual data model for health departments issued by the CDC and its rules based architecture allows I-NEDSS to be completely portable to state, county and municipal governments requiring a NEDSS solution.
